Turkey, explained for the UK and Ireland

Millions of people fly from the UK and Ireland to Turkey every year. Most travel guides treat them as an afterthought. Visit Turkey doesn’t.

Every page on this site is written with a British or Irish passport in your hand and a departure from Gatwick, Manchester, Belfast or Dublin in mind. We tell you the rules that apply to you, the flights that leave from near you, and the places that are worth the trip.

What we cover

  • Destinations — honest guides to Turkey’s cities, coasts and heartland, from Istanbul to Cappadocia.
  • Practical planning — entry rules, flights, money, health, safety and getting around.
  • Places — attractions, beaches, restaurants, hotels and experiences, each checked before it goes live.

How we keep it accurate

We base entry, health and safety information on official sources: the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), Ireland’s Department of Foreign Affairs, and the Turkish authorities. We review these pages regularly and show the date each one was last checked.

Rules can change at short notice. If you spot something out of date, tell us and we’ll fix it.

Independent and transparent

Visit Turkey is not a travel agent, tour operator or government body, and we don’t sell holidays. Some links on this site may be affiliate links: if you book through them we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. This never decides what we recommend.
